Winery
The first vineyard in Chile was planted almost 500 years ago by a Spanish monk. Since then, Chile has become one of the main wine exporting countries in the world. Interns can work in one of several wineries in the Casablanca Valley. Interns will assist leading winery tours and tastings. Interns have the opportunity to learn about and possibly assist in the areas of agricultural practices, wine production, or marketing and business development.
Qualifications Needed
Interns must speak Spanish with at least a high intermediate level of proficiency. All internship placements are in 100% Spanish speaking work environments.
Application Process
The following are required to apply for this program
· Application Form-available online at www.eliabroad.org or below
· Resume or CV in Spanish-some organizations will accept resumes in English, but applicants who submit their resumes in Spanish receive better placements.
· Letter of Intent in Spanish-Describe your goals for the program and your past experience that will contribute toward reaching your goals for the internship. The letter is your chance to demonstrate your Spanish proficiency and make a connection with the company. Letters written in English will not be considered
· $100 Application Fee. Please nope that it is non-refundable unless ELI is unable to make a placement for you.
Once we receive your complete application, we will send all the materials to our coordinator in Chile. Our coordinator will submit your application to companies with openings for interns. Usually the placement process takes 4-6 weeks. Sometimes it can take longer. We make all placements on an individual basis. One we receive confirmation of your internship, we will tell you where you are working and send you an invoice for the remainder of the program fee. Final payment of the program fee is due 30 days before your program start date. Once we receive your payment, we will send you the complete information on your internship, including all the contact information you will need before leaving for Chile.
Housing Options
Homestay
We have home stays located throughout Viña del Mar. The families choose to house international students because they believe in the benefits of cultural exchange and enjoy opening their home and family to new people. You will be provided with your own furnished room, breakfast and dinner daily, and a telephone for incoming calls. Homestays are best if your main goal is to learn as much Spanish as possible, you enjoy being at home with family, you don't have strict dietary restrictions, you are open minded to new living conditions and cultures.
Shared Apartment
Interns can stay in an apartment shared with other interns and international students. The apartments are in the heart of Viña del Mar near the beach, supermarkets, malls, and gyms. The apartments all have cable TV, wireless internet, utilities (gas, water, electricity, etc.), living and dining rooms, bathrooms, and private bedrooms. The apartment option is best for interns wanting independence and interns used to living alone.

Spanish courses may be arranged at a local Spanish school. The classes cost $120 per week and include 20 hours of instruction
