The four-week Tradition & Modernity in Taiwan (TMT) program combines hands-on coursework in the history, culture, politics, and contemporary issues of Taiwan with Chinese language instruction, offered at all levels. Participants explore the unique ways Taiwan has responded to challenges all modern societies face while gaining a better understanding of an increasingly influential region of the world.

20 hours per week of regional studies coursework in Taiwanese history, culture, politics, and contemporary issues; all classes are taught in English by expert host-institution faculty

Students also receive basic instruction in Chinese language - no prior knowledge is required. Students with previous Chinese experience continue at the appropriate level
Participants earn 8-10 U.S. academic credits in political science and sociology through Bryn Mawr College
