The GREEN Program (TGP) is an award-winning experiential education program focused on our world's most pressing issues in sustainable development. Since 2009, our mission is to educate and empower future sustainability leaders through experiential education, responsible travel, and adventure. Today, our alumni represent 470 universities across 70 countries and are now making an impact at organizations such as The Environmental Protection Agency, National Geographic, NASA, Rivian, Boeing, Nike, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Google, and more.

If you have a passion for sustainable practices, renewable energy, and environmental conservation, this program is tailored to meet your interests and aspirations. Whether you are a student or a young professional looking to enhance your understanding of sustainable energy solutions, this program will provide you with hands-on experiences, outdoor adventures, and opportunities to collaborate on meaningful projects. Program Highlights/Description: The GREEN Program in New Orleans offers an enriching experience that transcends typical tours. Experience authentic New Orleans beyond Bourbon Street, curated for sustainability enthusiasts.

Program highlights include but are not limited to the following: 

1. Urban Resilience Education: Visit the neighborhoods impacted by historic Hurricane Katrina, gaining a firsthand understanding of the ongoing recovery efforts in the community. Embark on a tour with a local non-profit farm, delving into the historical narrative of the land, from Indigenous histories to present-day sustainability and justice discussions, offering an immersive experience in local history, ecology, and future land use.

2. Capstone Development: Put your newfound knowledge into action as you collaborate on a capstone project with fellow participants. Work together to devise innovative solutions to real-world challenges in sustainable development. Guided by mentors and professionals, this project will be your chance to leave a lasting impact on the local community and the world beyond.

3. Explore the "Big Easy": Nicknamed the “Big Easy,” New Orleans is known for its round-the-clock nightlife, vibrant live-music scene and spicy cuisine reflecting its history as a melting pot of French, African and American cultures. Discover the best local hangout for the best beignets, offer a chance to tuck into mouth-watering Cajun and Creole dishes, and more. You’ll want to take all of the best New Orleans recipes home with you! Immerse yourself in the rich history of jazz, museums, eclectic art, and unique culture that New Orleans has to offer. 

4. Service Learning Project: Engage in a service learning project to support the mission of a local non-profit and contribute to their environmental resilience and sustainability initiatives. 

5. Personal and Professional Development: This journey is not just about learning about renewable energy and sustainability; it's also about self-discovery and growth.
