Art History in London
Art History in London will immerse students in the vibrant contemporary art and design scenes of London – a truly global cultural center. Site visits and hands-on projects take full advantage of London as a creative laboratory. Students explore contemporary art and design in world-class art museums, popular and underground galleries, innovative design centers, and cutting edge art and design studios. Guest lectures and tours allow students to learn from London-based art and design historians, contemporary artists and designers, and museum and gallery professionals. In the cosmopolitan metropolis of London, students have the unique opportunity to participate in local events, including contemporary art exhibitions and design festivals. Course readings, discussions, daily field trips, and interactive projects allow students to explore London’s most exciting art and design developments through art historical contextualization, current critical debates, and curatorial considerations.
