Thailand Short-Term Teaching Internship
Gain experience teaching English abroad on this education internship in Thailand’s famously beautiful Phang Nga region. Immerse yourself in the traditional Thai culture during the week while supporting English learning in the classroom. On the weekends explore the surrounding region, island hopping across the turquoise waters, surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs and pearly white stretches of sandy beaches.
PROGRAM FOCUS
After completing Teaching English as a Foreign Language, lesson planning and classroom management training, go on to support English language learning at a local primary school and kindergarten.
Opportunities are also available to teach informal English language classes for students from the local community, tutor students who require additional support, arrange and manage after school activities for young students, and assist with adult education classes. Throughout the project will receive learning support from qualified staff. As you gain more confidence, you will be asked to take on more and more responsibility within the classroom environment, eventually planning and conducting lessons by yourself.
This program will be completed during your first 12 weeks on the base with GVI staff and other participants. Each week you will learn about a specific concept related to leadership and teamwork and complete an assignment on the topic. You will be guided through the process by your assigned mentor on base. At the end of the course, successful candidates will receive a certificate and personal recommendation.
LOCATION
Travel to southern Thailand to live and volunteer in Phang Nga, a province along the Andaman sea. Contribute to conservation projects in a region consisting of mangrove forests, limestone cliffs, white-sanded beaches, and tropical islets.
