Cuba has fascinated U.S. politicians and the general public for decades, and President Barack Obama’s historic 2014 announcement normalizing relations between that island country and the U.S. rejuvenated long dormant interest in this nation. Now more than ever it is extremely important to learn first-hand about this island nation as Cuba and the United States struggle to sustain their relationship amidst the resurgence of a new Cold War belligerence.

Founded in 1728, the Universidad de La Habana established itself as one of the most distinguished universities in the Caribbean and Latin America. It was originally located in Old Havana, but moved to its current location in Vedado in 1910.
Abroadia students have the opportunity to study at this prestigious university, which a past student described as “stacked with history”, for four weeks.
Academics
Students may enroll in one of two classes that the Universidad de La Habana will offer: 1) Spanish Language; or 2) Cuban Culture. Both classes are taught by experienced professors from the Universidad de La Habana and feature excursions to different parts of the city.
