SIT Study Abroad Spain: Sustainable Urban Development & Social Justice (Summer)
Explore how Spanish cities pursue sustainable urban development while confronting social justice challenges. Based in Seville, examine how multilevel governance works in practice, as cities and local governments plan their own development. Study how Seville integrates territory, environment, transportation, and well-being to balance the needs of institutions, NGOs, corporations, and citizens. Compare Seville’s experiences with other cities, including Girona and Barcelona, and analyze how civil society and social movements shape debates on housing and the “right to the city.”
Please visit the SIT Study Abroad website for details on the program highlights and details of coursework, educational excursions, and housing.

HEAR FROM A FORMER STUDENT
"I learned about the stark differences between sustainable development and overall urban planning in the EU, specifically Spain, and the United States. This information was heavily reliant on experiential learning and it was 100% worthwhile."
