Program Description:

Arcadia - ISI Florence Banner
Study in the Heart of Florence With ISI

Situated in a pair of centuries-old palazzi in the heart of Florence, International Studies Institute Florence (ISI) is a modern and innovative institution offering an array of affordable, dynamic programs in areas as diverse as Architecture, Food Studies, Art History, Italian Culture, STEM, Fashion, Psychology, Studio Art, and more. You can build your semester from a choice of expert-taught courses to create a truly unique educational experience at this accredited, private institute that utilizes the city of Florence as a living laboratory.

The Renaissance is all around you as you explore Florence’s cobblestoned streets. In the shadow of Brunelleschi’s Duomo, you’ll ponder the many luminaries who lived, worked, created, and built there over centuries, while immersing yourself in the artistic, culinary, and cultural treasures of this beautiful city.

Internships, field study, research, leadership, community engagement opportunities, and extracurricular activities will take you out of the classroom and into the authentic communities of Italy. This program welcomes students who are looking for an innovative, personalized experience in one of the world’s most inspiring study abroad destinations. Program features include:

  • Curricular Concentrations: Create a customized semester of courses in an array of subject areas, or choose to focus in areas including Art History; Food Studies and Sustainability; History; Italian Studies; or Studio Art.
  • Advanced Architecture and Interior Design: The ISI School of Architecture offers semester and summer programs in architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, structural engineering, and more, taught by practicing professionals.
  • STEM in the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance: Take courses in Physics, Math, Biology, and Chemistry, all taught in English.
  • Special Programs for student Scholars, as well as opportunities for Internships, Community Engagement, and Global Leadership.
  • Virtual Internship Option: Replace one elective course with a virtual internship through Arcadia to add international professional experience to your resume. See the Internship Placement Guide for information about placement details.
  • Arcadia Italy Weekend: A tailored weekend trip for all Arcadia students coming to Italy to enhance a sense of belonging to the Arcadia community. Students will explore hidden areas of Italy (among the Abruzzo, Marche, or Romagna's countryside) that are off the beaten tracks and authentic.
  • Participants on the ISI Florence Program are required to be vaccinated against COVID and to provide proof of vaccination as a condition of participation.
