Special Needs Guatemala
Join International Volunteer HQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization, and support the Special Needs Care Volunteer Program in Guatemala.

On this program, you will assist at group homes or clinics for disabled children or the elderly. Volunteers gain experience caring for people with disabilities while helping to provide them with the kind of personalized care and attention that can really make a difference to their lives.

Volunteers are accommodated in a large, dormitory style volunteer house.

The program has start dates every Monday throughout the year.

This program ranges from 1-24 weeks. Your fully-hosted experience includes airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 support. Detailed pricing information for your duration is available on our website.
 
Your Impact

As a Special Needs volunteer you will assist in group homes or clinics for disabled children or the elderly. The range of disabilities found amongst the children is wide, so volunteers must come prepared to help with both basic life functions and engaging the children in imaginative games.

Special Needs volunteer work can vary but generally includes:
  • Providing personal care
  • Helping with feeding
  • Dressing and changing clothes
  • Bathing and personal care
  • Playing games and helping with activities
  • Assisting with physical therapy

  • Select your start date & duration: All IVHQ volunteer programs are available year-round and you can choose to volunteer for durations on this program ranging from 1 to 24 weeks.
  • Complete your registration: After you have been accepted on your chosen program, you can secure your place by paying the Registration Fee.
  • Pay your Program Fee: This is only due 30 days before your program starts.
Need to make changes to your booking? You can make free unlimited changes to your destination, project and dates up until 14 days before you start.
