Program Description:
Medical Vietnam
Join International Volunteer HQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization, and support the Medical Volunteer Program in Vietnam.

On this program, you will learn about the healthcare system in Vietnam. Volunteers will gain medical experience by observing and assisting qualified local staff in a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, getting exposure to a range of different specialties, treatments and clinical practices.

You’ll stay in an IVHQ volunteer dormitory at a tourism college which is a 30-minute drive from the tourist area of Ho Chi Minh City.

The program has start dates every Monday throughout the year.

This program ranges from 2-24 weeks. Your fully-hosted experience includes airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 support. Detailed pricing information for your duration is available on our website.
 
Your Impact

Government regulations prevent volunteers from carrying out independent tasks, so you can expect to be shadowing and assisting local doctors and nurses as they perform their duties. For this reason, this project is best suited to students hoping to gain an understanding of the Vietnamese healthcare system. Qualified volunteers are able to take part, but you should not expect to carry out hands-on medical care.

Medical volunteers can assist with:
  • Basic triage
  • Wound care
  • Rehabilitation

You’ll be helped by an English-speaking coordinator, and many doctors and nurses who also speak English.

  • Select your start date & duration: All IVHQ volunteer programs are available year-round and you can choose to volunteer for durations on this program ranging from 2 to 24 weeks.
  • Complete your registration: After you have been accepted on your chosen program, you can secure your place by paying the Registration Fee.
  • Pay your Program Fee: This is only due 30 days before your program starts.
Need to make changes to your booking? You can make free unlimited changes to your destination, project and dates up until 14 days before you start.
