This entry-level Hospitality and Tourism internship offers real world insight into the colorful travel industry in Guatemala. Gain hands-on industry experience, with placements that suit your preferences with hotels or tour operators, helping with all aspects of their daily business.
All interns in Guatemala are accommodated in various homestay accommodations. Interns are matched to an appropriate host family, taking into consideration convenient proximity to their internship placement. Typical host families in Guatemala usually comprise of two parents and children or a single parent with children (the ages of a host family’s children can range from young and still living at home, to adults living independently).
Eligibility requirement
Suitable for interns with relevant experience and/or studies related to marketing, hospitality, tourism management, sustainable development, etc. High School graduates aged 18+ are welcome to apply.
Language requirements
Suitable for interns at a beginner level of Spanish. The level of involvement during your internship will be influenced by your Spanish language proficiency. Interns must come prepared to interact with colleagues who may not speak English (as an English-language speaking Supervisor will provide guidance but may not be on hand constantly). All interns are encouraged to take advantage of in-country Spanish language lessons, which can be scheduled in conjunction with your internship schedule.

Internship Details
Considered one of the most beautiful cities in Guatemala, Antigua has long been known as an iconic city for both international and domestic tourists. Hospitality and Tourism interns are able to get genuine industry exposure by assisting in hands-on roles across a range of placements.
Tour operators
Assist tour operators with customer care and relations, marketing, business-to-consumer strategies, administrative support or with all manner on tours themselves.
Hotels and high-end hostels
Assist accommodation providers around Antigua with customer care, marketing and promotion, social media management, clerical work, accounting and on special seasonal projects and events.
Tourism start-ups
Help small start-up companies that provide niche experiences not traditionally sold by tour operators. Start-ups often require assistance in all manner of their operations, so interns should be open minded and willing to assist wherever it’s needed.
Due to the broad scope of this internship field, a customized approach is taken toward matching each intern to their best placement opportunity. Interns can state a preference for their own placement, which will be accommodated wherever possible.
Interns are required to have at least basic Spanish language skills, in order to communicate effectively with colleagues and locals.

- Complete your registration: After you have been accepted on your chosen program, you can secure your place by paying the Deposit.
- Pay your Balance: This is only due 60 days before your program starts.
