Program Overview

Your CIEE Summer Intern and Study Abroad program in Madrid lasts 6 weeks and features three key components: A part-time internship with an international organization (15-20 hours per week), an internship seminar, and a 3-credit academic course taught by CIEE faculty or online through CIEE’s global academic partner, ASU. Enhance your experience with cultural and extracurricular activities while building career skills, expanding your professional network, and immersing yourself in Spanish culture. Live, learn, and work in Madrid!

Internship Placements: CIEE offers the largest inventory of internship placements that align with your career aspirations.

Samples of past excursions and activities:

Take a day trip to the medieval city of Toledo, an ancient city set on a hill known for its medieval Arab, Jewish, and Christian monuments in its walled old city
Visit UNESCO World Heritage sites like Alcalá de Henares, a historic Spanish city famed for its 16th-century buildings in its old town
Kayak and hike to beat the heat, or dip into one of Madrid´s many public swimming pools while learning about Spain’s approach to environmental preservation
